Life Member Receives U.S. Green Building Council Award for bEQ Audits

Bruce Lindsay, Life Member ASHRAE and manager of energy and resources conservation at Brevard County (Fla.) Public Schools, was awarded a U.S. Green Building Council Best of Green Schools Award in the “Transformation” category for a Building EQ Pilot Program. 

The pilot program used the ASHRAE Building EQ Portal to conduct ASHRAE Level 1 energy audits at three K-12 schools in the district serviced by one chiller system. The audits were conducted by Brevard Public School District personnel and the ASHRAE Florida Institute of Technology Student Branch. Volunteer licensed Professional Engineers from the ASHRAE Space Coast Chapter oversaw the process.

The results of this program provided recommendations to the school board and motivated additional energy audits at other K-12 schools.
