CIBSE ASHRAE Symposium Will Be in Glasgow

CIBSE ASHRAE Symposium Will Be in Glasgow

 From European Update, Winter 2020

ASHRAE and CIBSE are again partnering on a technical symposium. The 2020 event will take place at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland, and has been postponed to 14 and 15 September, under the theme “Engineering Buildings, Systems and Environments for Effective Operation.”

More than 50 sessions will centre on mitigating and adapting for a changing climate that will reshape the engineering of the built environment and the systems which make our buildings habitable. This will influence not only what is built but must also inform the procedures and processes for maintenance, refurbishment and reuse to ensure lifelong effective operation, low environmental impact and occupant safety and wellbeing.

The Technical Symposium will focus on subjects of interest to ASHRAE members, CIBSE members, and the wider society—aspects that underpin the delivery of efficient and effective built environments. This will include fully reviewed research papers, opinion papers, case studies and poster presentations in a convivial and accessible event that encourages opportunities for delegates and presenters to meet and discuss their technologies, experiences and opinions.

Previous ASHRAE-CIBSE Joint Symposiums have an excellent track record for attracting designers, contractors, commissioning engineers, controls engineers, building operators, researchers and academics.

All registered attendees will be included in the reception and informal dinner that will be held on the first evening at the magnificent Glasgow City Chambers, providing a unique forum for both young and experienced industry practitioners, researchers and building users to share experiences and develop networks. The meeting will also provide excellent opportunities to meet members and officers of both ASHRAE and CIBSE, including the current presidents, Darryl Boyce and Lynne Jack.

ASHRAE members are eligible to receive a discount code for registration. To receive the code contact Brusselsoffice@ashrae.org.
