After college (BSMA, MBA) and two years as an army officer, Mr. Hallstrom joined the Trane Company in 1973. Over the next 37 years in applications engineering and product development, Mr Hallstrom developed many publications on air-side applications, equipment, and computer modeling of equipment, systems, and buildings. As global air-side applications manager, he presented domestically and internationally. After retiring in 2010, Mr. Hallstrom became president of his own consulting firm, AD Hall and Associates, and has presented courses, including some as an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer.
Mr. Hallstrom joined ASHRAE in 1976. He became an ASHRAE Fellow in 2000 for his work in innovative acoustical modeling software and active noise control. Mr. Hallstrom is an ASHRAE-certified BEMP, was one of the DOAS system consultants on the ASHRAE Headquarters redesign project, and has held numerous positions within ASHRAE including Society Director, all three ASHRAE Councils, and past President of three ASHRAE Chapters, two of them Premier Chapters. He is currently Chair of ASHRAE TC 1.6 Terminology Committee. He is a retired Army LTC and a Commercial Pilot.
