    Biography

    Birol Kilkis received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with high honors. He is a professor in the same discipline and also holds a diploma with honors from Von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics, Bruxelles. His main interests include unified quantum theory of heat transfer, panel heating and cooling, hybrid HVAC Systems, heat pumps and district energy systems. Dr. Kilkis has published over 200 papers on related fields, a book and several technical notes. He has authored about 40 ASHRAE papers and articles since 1991. Currently, Dr. Kilkis is the Chairman of TC 6.5, Vice Chair of TC1.6 and a member of TC 6.1, 6.4 and 6.2. He serves in other institutions also such as ASTM (member E-44), ASME, IGSPHA, and IRR. He was instrumental in developing the MOH diagram for hybrid HVAC Systems, and is the prime investigator of several international research and applied projects ranging from museums, libraries, and district energy systems to computer aided design and optimization of panel heating and cooling systems.
