    Biography

    Lucas B. Hyman is a LEED®-accredited, professional mechanical engineer with more than 30 years of experience. He is the former president of a well-known California consulting engineering firm he helped establish. His professional career has included projects for major universities, government agencies, schools, hospitals, industrial facilities, the military, and private firms.

    Mr. Hyman has planned and designed central heating and cooling plants, TES systems, cogeneration plants, steam plant systems, utility distribution systems, laboratory systems, HVAC improvements, energy conservation measures, landfill gas collection systems, fuel storage and distribution systems, as well as other mechanical systems.

    His engineering experience includes developing studies, master plans, construction documents (designs), performing construction management, and acting as commissioning agent. He has also participated as the mechanical engineer member in value engineering project reviews, conducted and led forensic engineering studies, and served as an expert witness.

    Mr. Hyman is the author of two books, Sustainable On-site CHP Systems and Sustainable Thermal Storage Systems, as well as numerous published papers and articles. He has won many ASHRAE regional and chapter awards.
