Paul Francisco, Fellow ASHRAE

Biography

Paul Francisco, Fellow ASHRAE, is Director of the Indoor Climate Research & Training (ICRT) program and Associate Director for Building Science at the Applied Research Institute of the University of Illinois.  He conducts research on residential indoor air quality and energy efficiency, especially in existing homes, and trains practitioners to identify retrofit opportunities to improve both efficiency and health outcomes.  Mr. Francisco is an active member of ASHRAE Standard 62.2 committee and has previously served as the Chair.  He was also Chair of ASHRAE’s Environmental Health and Residential Buildings Committees and was the 2020 recipient of the Donald Bahnfleth Environmental Health Award.  In addition to his research and training efforts, Mr. Francisco is a regular speaker at national and international conferences and involved in setting national standards and policy regarding ventilation, indoor air quality, and best practices in residential retrofit.
