An ASHRAE Training Credential for MENA

A unique feature of the ASHRAE Global Training Center—Dubai is the Building Excellence Credential MENA. The Building Excellence Credential MENA fills a significant gap in building performance. The credential aids design firms, equipment suppliers, contractors, and facility owners in identifying engineers trained in the correct application of ASHRAE standards and new technologies, training based on real world experience and real world performance.

The ASHRAE Building Excellence Credential MENA earned at the ASHRAE Global Training Center—Dubai is proof that an individual has received significant ASHRAE training customized for the Middle East and Northern Africa region and achieved comprehension of the key concepts presented. This credential can only be earned by participation in the training curricula available at the ASHRAE Global Training Center Dubai and completing an exam.

Who Benefits from the Building Excellence Credential MENA?

The Building Excellence Credential is intended for ASHRAE members and non-members who practice HVAC&R and other building performance technologies in the Middle East and North Africa. These include:

  • Design Engineers
  • Sales Engineers
  • Equipment Support Teams
  • Construction Managers
  • Mechanical Project Managers
  • Facility Managers
  • Service and Operating Technicians
  • Government Ministries and Code Enforcers
  • Energy Suppliers and Support Firms
  • Educators

Earning a Credential

The ASHRAE Building Excellence Credential MENA provides an opportunity for individuals to achieve recognition for their successful completion of a curriculum of training in the building performance field. ASHRAE offers a wide selection of training addressing technical applications, including:

  • Energy Efficiency
  • Indoor Air and Environmental Quality
  • Sustainable Buildings
  • Occupant Comfort
  • Health Care Facilities
  • VRF Design and Application

Each course presented at the ASHRAE Global Training Center—Dubai is assigned a specific number of credits depending on course length. The 3-day ASHRAE HVAC Design training is assigned 18 credits. Specialized courses on specific applications or ASHRAE standards earn from 3 to 6 credits.

To earn the ASHRAE Building Excellence Credential MENA, individuals must meet three criteria:

  • Complete a minimum of 42 credits within a 3-year period from the ASHRAE Global Training Center Dubai.
  • Earn a passing score on a 3-hour exam that draws on content from courses presented at the center. The more courses an individual attends at the center exceeding the 42-credit minimum, the higher the chance that the individual would have been exposed to the solutions offered in the ASHRAE training. (Passing Score of 90% is required to earn the credential).
  • Hold a university or college degree in engineering and/or 3-years experience in the HVAC&R field.

The ASHRAE Building Excellence Credential MENA exam will be scheduled following training sessions at the center. The exam may be taken prior to meeting the 42 credit requirement. (A credential will not be awarded, however, until both the training credit requirement is met and exam is successfully completed.)

There will be a $250 fee, payable each time, to sit for the exam.

Length of Recognition

The credential is valid for three years from the date of it being earned.

ASHRAE Certifications

The ASHRAE Building Excellence Credential is not an ASHRAE Certification. ASHRAE from its International Headquarters offers an International examination which tests applicants’ understanding of bodies of knowledge in specified disciplines (commissioning, healthcare facilities, energy audits, energy modeling, high performance buildings, building operations and maintenance). Experience requirements must be met for individuals to sit for exams. Corresponding training is not required.
