Interpretation Released on Operation Rating Energy Use Data, Standard 214

Operation rating energy use data is the subject of a new interpretation of ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 214-2017, Standard for Determining and Expressing Building Energy Performance in a Rating Program. The interpretation was approved in June.

An official interpretation is a written explanation of the meaning of a specific provision of a standard or guideline, as determined by an existing cognizant Project Committee or an Interpretation Committee, in response to a written request.

The interpretation says any program that requires only metered data would be in compliance with the standard because metered data would inherently qualify as measured and documented.
